Membership Request

I acknowledge the gifts God gave me in my Baptism, namely, that it is for the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.

I confess that I am a poor, miserable sinner whose sins offend God and deserved His temporal and eternal punishment; I am also heartily sorry for them, sincerely repent of them, and trust only in the boundless mercy of God found in the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Jesus Christ to save me.

I renounce the devil, all his works, and all his ways; that is, I renounce all contrary to Holy Scripture.

I believe in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as we confess Him in the Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.

I hold all the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures to be the inspired Word of God and the only source and norm of doctrine.

I confess the doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (LCMS), drawn from the Scriptures, and as I have learned to know it from the Small Catechism, to be faithful and true.

I intend to attend church every Sunday, hear the Word of God, and faithfully receive the Lord’s Supper.

I intend to live according to the Word of God and in faith, word, and deed to remain faithful to God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, even unto death.

I do not hold membership or participate in any denominations, organizations, institutions, or movements contrary to this Lutheran Confession of Faith.

I confess that I am not living a life contrary to God’s Word (e.g., cohabitation), and I earnestly desire that the pastor and my fellow church members admonish me when I am led astray by false doctrine and live an ungodly life, and I intend to amend my ways when corrected.

I intend to continue steadfast in this Lutheran Confession and Church and to suffer all things, even death, rather than fall away from it.

I want to become a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winter Garden, FL, and ask to place myself under the pastoral care and discipline of the pastor.
